I could remember a story that I was told. There was a King that did a funeral for his mother. After the event, he called one of his workers and accursed him for not coming to the event. The man told him that he came and he described how the event took place. The King told him that what you should have done is to ask me the reason I said you did not come. So, the man asked and the King said, "I did not see your gift". The man was astonished and told the King that how could he (a mere worker) give him a gift for his event when he knew that he already has what he needed for the event. Then, the King smiled and said, "That is where you are missing it, for the fact that you know I have does not mean that you shouldn't give me a gift for my event. You don't have to look at the status of people before you give. What if I still need some other things that I could not think of? " Then the King told him about an old woman who came into the palace two days before the event took place and gave him an envelope with Two Hundred Naira note (#200) in it as a gift for the event. He was surprised that she even remembered that he has an event not to talk of giving him a gift. He collected it from her and gave her an envelope with Two Thousand Naira notes (#2,000) in it for her visit.

What you said is too small to give is what someone needs. Giving should be your passion, what you do with your heart. You should not think of the status of the person you want to give, just give what you have.

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.                                               - Winston Churchill

Have you ever noticed that when you give cheerfully, you would be happy? You are happy because you know that you have definitely blessed a life. Giving from the heart fills your life with joy and nourishes your soul. If you find yourself feeling unhappy, just try making someone happy and sees what happens. There is always happiness in extending joy and love to others.

When you give, you are more likely to get back. Your generosity will be rewarded by others and sometimes the person you give to.

The process of giving and receiving promotes cooperation among people. You will feel closer to others and others will feel closer to you; this is what is called Living.Giving also inspires others to give.

What then can you give?

It seems giving of money, clothes, shoes, bags, and other material things are sacrosanct. What of your time, advice, word of encouragement, prayer, laughter, smile, honesty and so on?

You may not have money but you have time on your hands. You can devote your time to service for others. People can become relieved with just seeing others around them. Time is the most precious asset you have, use it valuably for others.

Whenever you see someone struggling with something, always encourage them. Sometimes, we get busy with our own lives that we forget about others. Make it a habit to reach out to someone, either by visiting, messaging or calling. Cheer people up when they are feeling down. Let them know that everything will be fine.

Share an encouraging word.
Meet the needs of a person. Sow the seed of giving and watch out for more blessings. A Chinese proverb says: "If you always give you will always have".Give more so that you can have more to give.

You can never out give, so be generous!
