The NASELS Grand Patron, Professor Remi Raji, The HOD Kola Daisi University, Dr. Idayat M. Lamidi, The NASELS National President, Comrade Ikelebe Solomon, the 6th, 7th and 8th Southwest Regional Directors, the Southeast Regional Director, the 9th Regional Executives, NASELS Southwest Presidents, every other stakeholder present and all NASELSites.
Experience:
The act and art of Leadership is a task that is in itself demanding, exposing, requesting and many more. Service to humanity which is my watchword served as the driving force throughout my stay in office as the 9th Regional Director, there were ups and downs. I am glad we had many ups than we had downs.
Serving a larger body as NASELS Southwest Region is a duty that has helped me in realizing that there is more to just requesting for good leadership, achievable plans and so on. I learnt that to achieve anything, human relations is key. This is why I am in deep gratitude for the set of Executives and leader who helped in achieving a successful administration.
Manifesto and Achievements:
Coming in as the 9th Regional Director, I had a lot of plans. Several things promised. I was assured that all will be achieved. I am proud to say that the 9th Council led by my humble self achieve all that was promised and more.
Here are some of the achievements of the 9th Council:
we opened the NASELS SOUTHWEST'S Bank account which will be handed over to the next administration with some reasonable amount of money.
We had NASELS SOUTHWEST'S Online Conference on telegram; we had four State Conferences, for the first time; we had a Workshop where we trained NASELSITES on Radio presenting and activities around it; we had Essay Competition which winners were giving cash prize and gift prizes.
In my manifesto I promised to organize not less than three REC Meetings; we had two physical REC Meetings and two Online REC Meetings; we also had Leadership Training where we equipped the members of the REC on how to be become a better leader; we had a successful debt free WESTCOSLES; we created the Region blog which now have about twenty thousand visits already; we launched the second edition of the magazine, seventeen chapters were handed over to me.
I ensured that EKSU Chapter got back to the region and we had three more chapters, this implies that we have twenty one chapters now, I had my regional tour and visited about ten chapters, we have growth in telegram and WhatsApp pages.
And today we are having the inauguration of the 10th Council. These are some of our achievements. We generated over one million Naira and certainly will leave some for the running of the next administration.
Appreciation:
Throughout the week, I pondered on these achievements and I am full of gratitude for the persons who helped in achieving all of it. I appreciate the Grand Patron for his pieces of advice, contributions, and trust. I remember when I went to him concerning how I needed to get the approval of Kola Daisi University for WESTCOSELS'22, he immediately picked up his phone and called the VC of the University and less that 24hours later, we got the approval. This is one amongst many favours and supports from the Grand Patron.
I sincerely appreciate the HOD of Kola Daisi University Dr. Lamidi, since the first day the national President and I visited her, she has been of immense support. She ensured that we got the approval for the Oyo state conference and WESTCOSELS.
How best can I appreciate my Executives? You all are the best! I couldn't have achieved all we did on my own. Thanks for serving with me. The 6th, 7th and 8th Regional Directors, thanks for laying the guidance and support. Your tutoring and pieces of advice helped a lot.
Dear chapter Presidents and members of the REC, I say a big thank you. My chapter President, Miss Faith, you have been a strong support system before I became the Regional Director, during my stay in office and trust me, we have some more work to do, thank you for your sleepless nights, run about to the end that we had a successful WESTCOSELS'22.
Comrade Yinka, you became the chapter President of NASELS KDU and within a short time you achieved a lot. I am glad I have you. Thanks for all that you did. The national President thanks for your support and thanks for giving NASELS Nigeria quality Leadership. Every NASELSITES from my chapter, Region and beyond I appreciate you.
Advice to the 10th Council:
My advice to the 10th Council is this: work as a team, every office has its duties, understand those duties and work by it. Immediately my Executives and I got into office, the first thing we did was to draw out a calendar of things we want to achieve, it was detailed with days and months. This helped define what we were going to achieve per time. Have a vision and run by it. Work with your Leader, the Regional Director. Shun resentments. Whenever you have disagreements ensure that it is resolved. You will make a lot of sacrifices. I am sure you are ready. I am available and I'm sure my Executives are also to give an advice whenever it is needed. I wish you success in office.
God bless NASELS SOUTHWEST Region!
God bless NASELS!
Comrade John Patrick
9th Regional Director
NASELS Southwest, Nigeria.
