YOUTH, MONEY, SEX, AND RITUALISM ; THE WAY OUT

Wikipedia defines Youth as the time of life when one is young, and often means the time between childhood and adulthood (maturity). It is also defined as "the appearance, freshness, vigor, spirit, etc., characteristic of one who is young". Its definitions of a specific age range varies, as youth is not defined chronologically as a stage that can be tied to specific age ranges; nor can its end point be linked to specific activities, such as money; taking unpaid work, having sexual relations, and also the belief that it is necessary for rites or repeated sets of actions to be carried out (ritualism).

Though, Young people are fearless, brave, impetuous, dynamic and self confident. Young people have the ideas, the creativity and great energy to shape a better world. Young people are full of hopes and through innovation and imagination, they are problem solvers and have a great potential to generate a positive social change in the world. But now, how many youths are actually using their ideas, creativity, and great energy to shape the world positively?
Instead, youths are after quick ways to earn big, while most even get themselves attached to illegal acts just to get money for themselves. This alone has causes the urges to partake in any immoral acts trending in the society.

Young people are in a continuous search for the transcendence that generates the desire of helping the environment, countries, communities and families. With globalization and technology the world has even become smaller, with unlimited possibilities of connection, there is a unique chance for young people to unite in solidarity and empathize on real friendship.
But, we find a lot of young people now into ungodly acts. The society we live in that is well into the new millennium started to recognize serious concerns that affect the youth. Some issues have always been there but there have been new obstacles beginning to surface in the eyes of the, can result in dissatisfaction when one doesn’t have enough and can negatively affect a person’s life.

Increasingly, many young people are getting disillusioned with religions. They no longer feel the inclination to believe in God and act in ways that are prescribed by the religions. On Sundays and during other worship times and days, a good number of young people now prefer to stay back at home and watch television, play worldly music and feel contented. The urge to go in search of God, the Supreme Being that answers all issues, physical and otherwise is no longer there. They are not necessarily atheist, some were actually believers or children of strong believers, but they are not just convinced anymore.

FAMILIES are responsible for the position of youth today. If they get it wrong at the foundation level, we shall strife, which is what we are experiencing today. Parents no longer have time for their children, no time at all to train and nurture them in the way of the Lord and teaching them about values in life. Some parents themselves do not even have time for God, while some of them after attaining a particular position; align with people of their calibre who do not serve God. Some parents are now in full support of their children who engages in bad and illegal acts just to provide them a fair or good standard of living.

The bottom line is that, parents should be prayerful right from childbirth, have quality time for their children right from the cradle, ensuring they grow up in the fear of God, and engage their children in good morals and values that will help the society and the world in general.
