SAVING: A HABIT YOU MUST CULTIVATE

There are so many things that can be saved but this content is based on saving money. According to Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, saving is when you save money rather than spend it.

Before you start saving, you must clear up your debt. It's better to save up for your debt first before anything else. Have you ever been in a situation whereby you are planning on how to make use of the money on you or the one you are expecting, and then, you suddenly remember that you are owing someone some amount of money? You will immediately become weary of the planning. Your body system will change at that particular time. You will start asking yourself " I'm I still owing? Eliminating your debt will give you a rest of mind. You will be able to save up for better things rather than being discouraged by paying debt always.

You can set a goal on how you want to save according to your income or earnings. If you have a project to embark on or you want to buy essentials, you can set a goal on how to save towards it. You can decide on a particular amount either daily, weekly or monthly. You can open a savings account, buy a piggy bank, or any other suitable means that can work for you.

Having a successful saving journey requires separating your wants from needs. Did this question ever pop up in your mind after buying?
Why did I even buy it?
What am I supposed to use it for now?
This means that you have just bought what you want but not what you need at that time. Of course, there are times you buy things simply because you want them. That's okay. However, it's not okay when it becomes your way of life that it affects your finances.

According to T.T Munger, the habit of saving is itself an education; it fosters every virtue, teaches self-denial,cultivate the sense of order, train to forethought, and so broadens the mind. Saving requires discipline and sacrifice. It is a way of controlling and denying yourself of some unnecessary pleasures which might lead to lavish spending.

You might not even know what or have anything in mind you are saving for right now, but it will later give you the freedom in choosing what you need later. Saving money will help you cover unexpected expenses.

Saving is an habit you must cultivate. It's never too late to start. Do not be discouraged by the current situation of the country's economy. Continue practicing until it becomes your habit.
