Procrastination has proven itself deadly to humanity. When you intentionally kept postponing what you are to do now, then you are already diagnosed with this disease. The symptom is as simple as saying to yourself “I will do it later”. You kept piling it up until it overwhelms you, then, you look back, nothing has been achieved so far. There are a lot of deadly outcomes of procrastination.
First of, unaccomplished goals are the end result of delayed goals. How can you set a goal for yourself and decide not to get it? The whole essence of setting goals is to accomplish it, right? How then can you not be determined enough to work in fulfilling your goals as earlier as possible? Sometimes, procrastination will not even allow you set any goal, needless to say that you will fulfil any.
Loosing good opportunities is one of things procrastinating can cost you. When you refuse to act on whatever opportunity that comes your way, better ones will not come forth. Taking advantage of an opportunity is a way of showing the world what stuff you are made of. However, refusing to make good use of it will only convince people that you are not the one to offer any opportunity to.
Moreover, refusal to act quickly on what you are supposed to do will make you lag behind in all areas. Piling up tasks until the final deadline will only results in unproductivity. The most deadly thing about this is that it makes one become lazy and a failure.
In all of these outcomes, what you will mostly blame yourself for is waste of time. When you look back and realize how much time you have wasted in not doing things at the right time, then you start regretting how much you could have done in that space of time. This can definitely lead to low self-esteem.
Just like a disease, when the symptoms start appearing, it seems as if it’s nothing of importance. However, it becomes deadly when it reaches its peak. Procrastination might seems as a thing of pleasure now, but when it becomes a perpetual habit, it comes with deadly consequences which might not be redeemed. Therefore, always take action now.
